March 2018

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

 Parent and Teacher Interviews

Tuesday 20 March  from 1.30pm to 7.50pm .

Each interview is for a period of 10 minutes with the classroom teacher.  You will also have the opportunity to meet with our ESOL and Learning Support staff and these meetings will be in groups with the teacher (groups up to 20 parents at a time).   You will need to book a time for these interviews through our internet booking system –see below for details on how to do this.

These interviews are NOT FOR RECEPTION CLASSES (Rm 17 & 18).  These are done when your child moves from Reception to their new class.

Room 23  (Mrs Mackie) will be holding their Interviews on 12 March and will be sending home instructions on how to book for her class  separately.

These interviews are an opportunity for the adults in a child’s learning journey to discuss how things are working for the child’s learning this year. It is an opportunity for parents to highlight any at home issues the teacher needs to be aware of and also how he/she has settled to learning in their new class for the year.

These interviews will be lead by both parent/s and the teacher to ensure there is honesty around the child and his/her learning and clear identification of the necessary actions that need to be implemented.

The ESOL teachers (Mrs McKeown and Mrs Dreyer)  would like to hold information sessions on these nights. These sessions are a time for:Hearing details about the Talk to Learn and Quick 60 programmes

  • Hearing details about the Talk to Learn and Quick 60 programmes
  • Ideas on how you can help your child with their English at home
  • Looking around the ESOL room and at their ESOL work
  • Answering any general questions you might have about our programme.

These are not a time for individual conversations about your child or for the teachers to give you progress reports on your child.  We will be able to talk to you about these things at the end of Term 2, during the Student-led conferences.
These information sessions will run for approximately 30 minutes. We are holding three separate sessions to hopefully fit in with the time that you are seeing your child’s classroom teacher.  The times are 2:00pm, 3:30pm and 6:30pm.  These sessions can be booked through the on-line booking system using the code below:
