Kia Ora parents and caregivers,
Welcome back to Term Three. Thank you for all the support you have given us throughout the first half of the year. We all enjoyed meeting with you and discussing your child’s goal cards at the end of last term. We would like to welcome Angad Singh Dhillon, Edward Zhang and Nikora Raivaru to our Year 3 whānau.
This term, our inquiry topic is “Is it worth saving our tikanga?” This is going to focus on students looking into different practises and customs of Maori and why they are important to us as New Zealanders. Our upcoming trip to the Auckland Museum will see our learners finding out more about protocols for visiting maraes and the traditional weaving patterns – they will learn to weave just like the ancestors did.
For mathematics this term, we are continuing our inquiry maths journey. There will be an open morning on Friday the 14th of August. Please come along and see what inquiry maths is all about. Our focus for this term is algebra and geometry. Remember that helping with learning basic facts at home really helps children with their strategies in the classroom.
Reminders:
- PE gear and sports shoes need to be brought to school daily
