Creative Kids is owned and managed by Simone and Brendon Shervell. Simone qualified with an Early Childhood Diploma in 1988.

Simone and Brendon are experienced with the ages from birth to 12 years. Simone and Brendon have both managed Early Childhood Centers, after school programs and holiday care programs over the past 20 years.

They both hold current first aid certificates.

Philosophy

Children are cared for in a safe, healthy and stimulating enviroment where their needs are met and their learning is fostered.

All children will be treated with dignity and respect. Behaviour is managed with a firm but fair approach where clear boundaries and limits are in place. Children with unacceptable behaviour will be worked with on our steps behaviour program.

We aim to create a family centered caring approach were children feel Creative Kids is an extension of home.

Creative Kids Before and After School Care program operates Monday to Friday in the following format.-

Before School

7.00— 8.00am   Children arrive and are given breakfast of cereal and Milo.

8.00—8.30am    Toys, Board Games, computer and art are available.

After School

3.00 – 3.10pm    Children arrive from class. Time to catch up with friends, relax, unwind, talk with friends, record attendance and locate late comers.

3.10 – 4.00pm    A nutritious afternoon tea of sandwiches, biscuits and water is offered.

4.00 – 4.30pm   Children are placed in homework groups with a staff member overseeing that homework is completed and offering help where required.  Children  without homework will be encouraged to read quietly, providing quiet time for those needing to complete set school homework.  It is the child’s responsibility to remember and complete their homework.

4.30 – 5.00pm    Free Time. Art & Craft, a choice of puzzles, Lego, Dolls and board games. Reading, drawing material, computer games, play station and sports equipment are available. (The WII and computer are limited to 10 minutes each)

5.00 – 5.10pm     Tidy up time

5.10 – 6.00pm     Organized group games. The children are able to choose from several organized games, where the focus is on team sportsmanship and having fun, not winning and losing

Friday afternoons are  homework free – cooking or organised art activities are optional.

Please ring for fees

Fees: Fees are to be paid one week in advance, either by automatic payment or cash only. A $10.00 penalty fee will be charged for all overdue fees.

Lateness: All children must be collected before 6.00pm.  Parents must have a backup person to collect their child if they are unable to by 6.00pm. Creative Kids has the right to charge a $10 late fee per 10 minutes or part there of.

Absentees:  Fees are still payable for sessions booked where children don’t attend. Parents must inform if their child will not be attending before 2.30pm by leaving a message on the center phone.
