FAB (Friends at Baverstock)

Our FAB is our school PTA.  They meet on Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm once a month.

If you are new to the school this is a wonderful way to meet other families in our community.

These meetings are also attended by our SLT (Senior Leadership Team – Principal and Associate Principals).  While the FAB does a lot of fundraising they also have a lot of fun and are an integral part of our school community.  Over the past few years they have raised funds to: purchase a school van,  purchase and install  astro turf, upgrade our school television station (BNN – Baverstock Network News) and put money towards the installation of an all weather cricket pitch in our school grounds.  Look out for FAB meeting dates in our school newsletter.

I am the proud Mum of Archie (Year 2) and Ava (due to start mid year). We have lived in the Flat Bush area for 13 years and love the location and accessibility to fun family activities.
I enjoy helping others, working alongside a committed team and building strong connections along the way.

I joined the FAB team as soon as Archie started school and really value the opportunity to help out and add value where I can, while representing the interests of our children.
It is a privilege to support the teaching team as they provide such a positive environment here at Baverstock Oaks.

I am looking forward to working with the FAB team and school to prioritise further projects for FAB fundraising and running more fun community events.

I have three great kids, two boys which are at school in Year 2 and Year 5, and my girl who will be starting in 2019.

This will be my third year on the FAB team, I joined FAB to be a part of the school community and build bigger connections. I feel very strongly about giving back to the children. School is a big part of their lives and this is a perfect way to do this..

I am looking forward to supporting the team this year.

I have two fun loving, energetic boys at the school, one in year three and the other in year six.

I work at GymSports NZ (the national association for gymnastics and trampoline) as the Sport Education Manager.

I love to help out with FAB, to help the school become even bigger and better and help fulfill the sense of community.

I also enjoy making new friendships……..

Why does the PTA undertake so much Fundraising?

Baverstock Oaks School is a Decile 6 school. The major implication of this rating is the amount of funding given to the school by the government.   As a general overview, more money per child is provided to Decile 1 schools, than to Decile 6 schools.   As a result, you will often find that parents of children at higher Decile schools will be asked to contribute more in terms of donations, trip fees, time, equipment and fundraising.

The purpose of conveying this information to you is not to question the rationale that underpins this funding, but to inform you of the Decile rating funding scheme and the impact it has on Baverstock Oaks School.
